Muzaffarnagar/Saharanpur (UP): Three persons lost their lives and six sustained severe injuries in three separate incidents of house collapse in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh because of heavy rainfall, official sources said on Saturday.

Two minors, a 14-year-old boy Shoeb and an 11-year-old girl Sana Perveen, died and five family members sustained injuries when their house collapsed in Mimlana village, under Kotwali police station area, on Friday night. When the incident occurred, the family members were sleeping, official sources said.

On getting information, police and administrative officials rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. They sent the injured to a hospital. According to doctors, the conditions of some of them are serious.

According to reports from Saharanpur, an old house caved in because of heavy rainfall in the past two days. A 16-year-old girl died in the incident and her mother sustained severe injuries. The house was located in Shaheed Ganj area under Nagar Kotwali, official sources said. A large number of people rushed to the spot and cleared the rubbles to rescue the injured. The injured were rushed to a hospital where the girl Vaishnavi died, sources said.

Heavy rain has lashed different parts of Uttar Pradesh in the past three days. Consequently, five incidents of  wall collapse have been reported from different places of the state in the past 15 days. Nine people were killed in Dilkusha area of Lucknow district, the capital of the state, on September 15 when heavy rainfall lashed the city. Similarly, four labourers were killed in Jal Vayu Vihar in sector 21 in Noida on September 20. Four siblings died in a wall collapse in Etawah district of the state.
