In her complaint, the 15-year-old girl said that as she protested against the teacher’s attempts to molest her, he beat her up and threatened her with dire consequences. The teacher has been suspended. The police are searching for him.

Deoria (UP): A teacher of a government school, located under Suroli police station in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, has allegedly molested and assaulted a 15-year-old girl student, the police said on Sunday. Immediately after the girl lodged a complaint about the incident, the district basic education officer suspended the teacher.

The police further said that a case had been registered against the teacher under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to superintendent of police Sankalp Sharma, the incident occurred on October 25 when the 30-year-old teacher molested a student in the upper primary school located under Suroli police station.

When the student raised an objection, the teacher beat her up and threatened her with dire consequences, Sharma said. The incident came to light when the girl informed her parents about her woes after reaching home. Her parents complained to police and the education department about the teacher’s behaviour.

Sharma said that an FIR had been registered against the teacher under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act. The police began to search for the teacher. Meanwhile, an official of the education department said that the teacher had been suspended.
