Azamgarh: A man and his sister-in-law have been awarded life imprisonment for killing his wife, official sources said on Wednesday.

Additional sessions judge Dhananjay Kumar Mishra sentenced life imprisonment to Pradeep and Vibha on Tuesday. Both were involved in killing Sandhya in 2016.

The murdered was committed on April 12, 2016 when they set ablaze Sandhya at her residence in Aliyabad Katai village at the Jiyanpur area in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh.

The mother of Sandhya Kamala Devi lodged a complaint to the police about the incident. She alleged that Pradeep and Vibha had an illicit relationship and, for this, they had killed Sandhya. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the accused.
