Kaushambi: India may have entered the digital world, but superstition still dominates Indian villages. An incident of superstition was recently reported from a village in Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh. A devotee cut off his tongue and offered it to Goddess Sheetla, the police said on Saturday.
A 38-year-old devotee, Sampat, a resident of Kaushambi, chopped off his tongue and offered it to the goddesses. He was rushed to a hospital in a serious condition. Sampat and his wife Banno Devi visited the temple and worshipped the deity. Before that both of them had taken bath in the Ganga.
According to station house officer of Karha Dhaam police station Abhilash Tiwari, the couple circled the temple. The man cut off his tongue and offered it at the door step of the temple. Sampat is undergoing treatment at the hospital where the doctors said that he was in a serious condition.
