Rampur: It is better to observe what is happening now and put up the best fight possible under the circumstances, said Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mohd Azam Khan.
Khan told reporters on Thursday that as commenting on injustice meted out by those in office was of no use, the people should set an example for future generations by showing unity and power of democracy in the upcoming by-elections.
Khan appealed to SP leaders and workers to display unity and ensure a big win for party candidate Asim Raja in the by-election of Rampur Sadar assembly constituency on December 5.
The by-election necessitated after Khan lost membership of UP Assembly as he was convicted in a hate speech case during 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Akash Saxena who had lost to Khan by a margin of over 50,000 votes in the assembly elections earlier this year. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may hold a rally in favour of Saxena on December 2.
