A dengue patient was given sweet lime juice instead of plasma at a hospital in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. The 31-year-old patient died.
Prayagraj (UP): The incident, in which a dengue patient was injected sweet lime juice instead of plasma, has taken a new turn after the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has issued a notice to the Global Hospital and Trauma Centre that the illegally constructed hospital building will be bulldozed, official sources said on Wednesday.
In the notice, the PDA sought a response from the hospital management within three days. The dengue patient died. The PDA wanted to know the reasons for illegal construction of the hospital building. It further said that it was built without approval. Immediately after the incident, the hospital was sealed. The administration has also pasted a copy of the notice outside the hospital. An official of the PDA said that if a satisfactory response is not provided within the specified, action would be taken to demolish the building.
Immediately after the death of the dengue patient, the district administration began an investigation into the case to know whether the hospital officials had made any mistake. The family of the patient who died demanded stringent action against the hospital management. After the 32-year-old patient was injected with sweet lime juice, his condition deteriorated and he was rushed to another hospital where the doctors told the relatives of the patient that he was given sweet lime juice instead of plasma. The incident went viral on social media.
