Muzaffarnagar (UP): The district administration has imposed a dress code for teachers in government educational institutions, official sources said on Friday. The teachers have been warned against wearing jeans and T-shirts, because it may convey a wrong message to the students.
According to district inspector of schools Gajender Singh, when he was inspecting some schools, he saw many teachers who, clad in jeans and T-shirts, were taking classes. He told reporters that he had warned them against begin casual about their dress code and issued a circular saying that such teachers as would flout the dress code would face the music.
Singh further said that besides students and teachers, the school principals in the district should follow the dress code. The teachers wearing modest dress create good impression on the students who generally follow their teachers, he said, adding that the female teachers should either wear saris or salwar kameez.
There have, so far, been dress code for the students, but now, the dress code has been imposed on teachers. It happened for the first time that teachers of government schools have been warned against wearing jeans and T-shirts.
