Sitapur (UP): Torrential rains lashed different parts of Uttar Pradesh in the past few days. Flood waters entered many houses in villages, official sources said. Two children were killed on Thursday when a wall of their house caved in at a Bhadeva village under Thaangaon police station in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh because of the heavy rain.
According to additional district magistrate RN Tiwari, those who had died were identified as Shabia (five) and Mehak (three), daughters of Farooq, a resident of Bhadeva village. The incident occurred when the children were playing near the wall, he said.
On hearing the cries of the family members of Farooq, villagers rushed to spot and pulled out the bodies of the girls from under the debris and rushed them to a hospital where the doctors declared them dead. According to Tiwari, the district administration has begun to initiate financial aid to the family from the Natural Disaster Fund. He further said that financial aid would be provided to the family within 24 hours.
