Saharanpur (UP): Shocked by the murder of her boyfriend by her family members, a 19-year-old girl committed suicide at Islampur locality of Rampur Maniharan Maniharan region of Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
The girl Tannu Saini was a B. Sc student and her boyfriend was Zia-ur-Rehman on Wednesday, the police said on Thursday. The girl’s family reportedly called the youth to their house and brutally thrashed him, which led to his death at a hospital in Dehradun. On getting information of his death, the girl, too, ended her life.
The police further said that they had not received any complaint about the incident, so no FIR was lodged. The post-mortem report of the girl’s body mentioned that she had died because of hanging. As the couple belonged to two different communities, the incident sparked panic among traders who put their shutters.
According to senior superintendent of police Vipin Tada, the police have been deployed. An inquiry into the case is going on and action will be taken accordingly.
Youth murders minor sister in UP’s Gonda
A 22-year-old man has murdered his 16-year-old sister suspecting that she had an affair with a man from their village, the police said on Thursday. The man used a sharp-edged weapon to polish off his sister in the Katra area of Gonda district late Wednesday night. The youth was arrested following a complaint by his mother.
