Lucknow: Leading dermatologists at King George’s Medical university have cautioned against the use of skin whitening creams. In a survey at KGMU out of 400 patients in OPD, 50% come after using creams that do not suit their skin.

“Many patients come here after the effects of using products that do not suit their skin. Situation become more adverse after using steroid based-creams.” Said Dr. Parul Verma department of dermatology at KGMU.

She further added that the base color of skin never changes, so one should avoid using chemicals.

Dr. Swastika Suvirya, Head of department Dermatology expressed that pollution, pesticides and poor eating are the factors that create sin troubles. She further added that one should only take medicines after expert advice.

The Doctors also said that some of the skin troubles are region based.

Dr. Verma explained that people should avoid using medicines and steroid based creams for problems like fungal infection, itchy skin rash and acne without any prescription from a medical practitioner.

According to the information received Prof U.S Singh explained the role of pathology in diagnosis of sin ailments. He further said that a coordinated effort by dermatology and pathology departments gives better result in diagnosis.
