Lucknow: The Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital and the Government Unani College in Lucknow have been affiliated to Ayush University, Gorakhpur, official sources said on Saturday. Both the colleges were affiliated with Lucknow University (LU). The executive council of LU took the decision to disaffiliate both the colleges on Wednesday.
According to registrar of LU Sanjay Medhavi, the UP government said that all ayurveda, Unani and homoeopathy colleges would be affiliated to the Ayush University. On the grounds of the state government’s directive, the LU executive council took a decision on affiliation shift at a meeting, he said.
LU has informed those colleges that all new students admitted to those colleges will be given degrees from Ayush University, and those who are registered right now will get degrees from LU, besides the Ayush University will conduct the examinations, he said.
As far as offering medical education goes, LU will henceforth offer courses in pharmacy, yoga and alternative medicines, sources further said.
