Mathura (UP): The Mathura city magistrate has issued bailable warrants against 16 people of a Hindu outfit that urged people to recite Hanuman Chalisa inside Shahi Eidgah mosque on December 6, official sources said on Friday.
According to senior superintendent of police Martand Prakash Singh, the organisation did not seek any permission and the administration has registered cases against two persons for trying to collect crowds for the event.
The Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) appealed to all its leaders and supporters last month to arrive at the mosque adjacent to Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi to chant Hanuman Chalisa on December 6. The place is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
According to station house officer of Govind Nagar in MathuraSanjay Kumar Pandey, nearly three dozen people have already been bound by notices. Being bound by a notice means a situation in which an esecutive magistrate serves a show-cause notice with a surety bond to a person on the apprehension that he/she may disturb peace.
The city magistrate has issued bailable warrants to those who have failed to respond and fill the required surety bond, he said.
