Seers in Ayodhya oppose memorial to be named after Lata Mangeshkar

Date:

Ayodhya: The construction of Lata Mangeshkar Smriti Chowk has faced stiff resistance from seers in Ayodhya, sources said on Thursday. The memorial is building in the name of the legendary singer, also called the Nightingale of India.  The seers held a meeting at Maniram Das Chhavni and opposed the administration’s decision to dedicate the Chowk to Lata Mangeshkar. They demanded that it should be christened as Ramanandacharya Chowk, a seer of the Ramanand sect.

According to seers, they are not opposed to the singer but they wanted the memorial to be built at some other place. As Ayodhya is associated with the Ramanand sect, the memorial should be dedicated to his name. They are set to write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.
