Lucknow: Elections over 36 MLC seats are in progress. Even during the nomination, BJP managed to bag seven seats clearly from the first phase. The reason behind it is ruling out the nomination and withdrawal of the names of candidates of the Samajwadi Party and RLD. It has put up a question mark over the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav and Jayant Chaudhry. They chose those people to contest, who was not faithful enough to contest the election fairly for the party.

The nomination of the candidate of the Samajwadi Party from Aligarh, Mathur-Etah-Mainpuri, and Lakhimpur was ruled out. Besides this, SP candidates from Badayun, Hardoi, Mirzapur, and Gazipur, withdraw their candidature. Whereas RLD candidate from Bulandshahar also withdraws his name from the elections. Due to this act of the candidates fielded by SP and RLD, questions are over the high command. Political experts are saying that it is a clear sign that these leaders haven’t their hold over the party. They are still not capable enough to choose the leaders who could contest their elections fairly.

Is it money power or something else?
As the way potential opposition leaders are withdrawing their candidature, the questions are over the reasons of the act. Some of the people are alleging of using money power for it. Usually, MLC elections of the local bodies quota are called the election of the ruling party. Whichever party was in power has managed the maximum number of seats. This time it’s BJP’s turn. People say that money and muscle power are widely used and that’s how the ruling party manages to get the most out of it. In spite of all at least SP and RLD should have fielded those candidates who could have contested the elections, not withdrawn their candidature.
