2) Theeyaattam or Theeyaattu is another traditional dance performance of people living in Kerala. This dance performance is done by only 2 communities of Kerala such as Theeyattunnis brahmins and Tiyyadi Nambiars. Bhadrakali Theeyaattu by Theeyattunnis and Ayyappan Theeyaattu by Tiyyadi Nambiar are the two types of dance performances made. One has to follow the rules of the dance form as it is and cannot change as per his own wish or mannerisms. Theeyattu is dominant in central and north Kerala and is a must-see thing if you are in Kerala the next time.

3) Kalaripayattu is one of the ancient forms of Indian martial arts that is performed only in some places of Kerala. Although this art form is not prevalent everywhere, you must check it out by asking the local travel guide. There are Kalaripayattu centres in different parts of Kerala which you can visit and also check out a session or learn some techniques.

4) Ayurveda is one of the ancient forms of medicinal practice that has its origin in Kerala. It is believed that Kerala’s Ayurveda has been in existence for the last 2000 years. So, when the whole world is now researching and wanting to study more about Ayurveda and see how it can be an effective way to increase the lifespan, why don’t you visit Kerala and understand the various healing and traditional techniques where oil and whole spices are used?

Apart from the above things to see, there are other dance performances and social events like Koodiyattam, Kathakali Koppu, and Aranmula Boat Race that you should surely add to your travel to-do list when you are in Kerala. I am sure when you take a week off from your busy life and visit Kerala, you will find many more amazing places to witness than this small list. Make sure that you write down the important places that you visited in your diary because it is not that easy to remember the difficult names of places and people because of their pronunciation and Malayalam word usage.
