Facebook has said on Thursday that it is setting a limit for forwarding messages on Messenger to prevent false information going viral on its platform. Now users can forward messages to only five people or groups at a time. It has been made similar to WhatsApp. This step has been taken to prevent the spread of misinformation related to Kovid-19 epidemic. The dissemination of misinformation has increased due to the close elections in Corona and America, New Zealand and other countries.
Facebook said in a blog post that they are bringing forward limits on Messenger to prevent wrongdoings of people who inadvertently want to undermine the right information and create uncertainty or disturbances. Earlier this year, Facebook introduced a number of features to block and report unwanted messages, including safety notifications, two-factor authentication and easy ways to block and report such messages.
It says that this new feature is giving another new measure for security, in which wrong information or dangerous content will be limited. And they believe that it will also help in keeping people safe online.
