Melbourne: Australia head coach Justin Langer says that the absence of regular captain Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami of Team India will benefit the Kangaroo team.
Virat returned to home on Tuesday after the first Test played in Adelaide while Shami is out of the series due to injury. Australia won the first match by eight wickets and the second Test between the two teams will be played from 26 December.
Langer said, “Virat is one of the best players in the world and Shami is an important part of India’s fast bowling attack.” He has considerable skill. Not having these two players will benefit the Australian team. But we have to work hard. We know that the team will have to start strong from day one and if Rahane takes over the captaincy then he will have to put pressure on them. ”
He said, “There will be no change in our process but whenever a team’s best player is not in the team then that team becomes a little weak. This is the truth and it will benefit us. ”
Langer said that Australia can play the last XI for the second Test only. He said, “I don’t think there can be any change in the last XI of the last Test match. Given what is happening in the world in the last few days, we would love to play with the last XI. ”
