Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s head coach, and Waqar Younis, Pakistan’s bowling coach, resigned from their positions one month before the T20 World Cup. Misbah and Waqar have resigned, and former Pakistan Test players Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdul Razzaq will serve as temporary coaches for the time being, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board. The abrupt changes occur on September 13, the same day that former Test captain Ramiz Raja was appointed as the board’s new Chairman.
Ramiz has stated on his YouTube channel and as a pundit and analyst that Misbah and Waqar are not the finest coaches for the Pakistani squad. Ramiz’s impact on the selection process can be seen in the World Cup team revealed on Monday since he favors younger players and big hitters in the T20 format.

Saqlain and Razzaq will serve as temporary coaches for the New Zealand series, according to the PCB. Misbah and Waqar were appointed in September 2019 with one year remaining on their tenure. New Zealand will arrive in Islamabad on September 11 for three ODIs and five T20Is, while Pakistan will arrive on September 8 for three ODIs and five T20Is. According to the PCB, the team management for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup would be chosen in due time.
Misbah was also named chief selector with his head coach role in 2019 but resigned from the position last year due to a hard schedule. Working with Pakistan’s bowlers, particularly the kids, has been the most rewarding aspect of his career, according to Waqar Younis, since they have begun to show development.
