Suyash Jadhav, an Indian para swimmer, had a dismal performance in the men’s 100m breaststroke SB7 final of the current Paralympic Games when he was disqualified for a rule infringement on Wednesday in Tokyo. Jadhav earned a gold medal at the Asian Para Games in 2018 and two bronze medals and a silver at the German Swimming Championships in 2016.
Since he did not comply with World Para Swimming Regulation No 11.4.1, which states, “a single butterfly kick is permitted any time before the first breaststroke kick after and after the start.”

Jadhav, whose two hands were amputated below the elbow due to electrocution when he was 11 years old, was discovered to have “executed more than one fly kick after the turn.” Columbia’s Serrano Zarate has won gold with a career perfect time of 1:12.01 in this event.
Egor Efrosinina of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) won silver with a time of 1:16.43s, while Blake Cochrane of Australia won bronze with a time of 1:16.97s. S7 swimmers have poor limb function, are missing a leg or portions of both legs, or have cerebral palsy and amputations.

Breaststroke is abbreviated as SB. On Friday because of cold and bad throat, Jadhav was unable to compete in his first event, the 200m medley SM7. On Friday, he will participate in the 50m butterfly S7 category.
