Dubai: AB de Villiers brilliant half century 55 off 22 not out and skipper Virat Kohli’s 43 off 32 helped RCB beat RR by 7 wickets in the 33rd match of the IPL 2020, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, here on Saturday.
From 9 matches RCB have won their sixth game and remain at No 3 in the IPL table while for RR this is their 6th defeat.
Earlier, RR won the toss and opted to bat putting 177/6 while in reply RCB completed target 179/3 in 19.4 overs.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan got off to bat and Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa got off to a good start. Both batsmen shared a 50-run partnership. Ben Stokes was caught by Chris Morris at the hands of AB de Villiers to give the team the first success.
Opening for the first time this season, Robin Uthappa smashed 41 off 22 balls. Chahal got Uthappa caught by Aaron Finch. On the next ball after Uthappa, Sanju Samson also got his catch to Chris Morris on the score of 9. After successive falling wickets, Smith and Butler shared a 58-run partnership from 46 balls. Butler was caught by Chris Morris at the hands of Navdeep Saini at the score of 24. Chris Morris took 4 wickets while Chahar took 2 wickets from the opposition team.
Chasing target RCB received an early blow as Aaron Finch (14) on 23 runs. After this, captain Virat Kohli shared 79 runs in 58 balls with Devadatta Padkil and brought the team on the path of victory.
After this, Devdutt Paddikal (35) and Virat Kohli (43) lost their wickets on back-to-back balls, from where Rajasthan once again made a comeback, but AB de Villiers single-handedly reversed the match
