Sports2-year ban for Dipa Karmakar for violating doping rules

Date:

India’s star gymnast Dipa Karmakar has been banned for 2 years for violating doping rules. In the final of the 2016 Olympics, Dipa set new heights for gymnasts in India by finishing fourth in the final.

According to reports, Deepa is suspended from the second half of 2021 for violating the guidelines issued by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

However, Sudhir Mittal, president of the Gymnastics Federation of India, Deepa, and her coach Bishweshwar Nandi are yet to react on the matter. If sources are to be believed, the Sports Authority of India and NADA are blaming her coach Nandi who has been training Deepa since childhood.

It is alleged that it was because of Nandi that the Padma Shri, Khel Ratna, and Arjuna Awardee gymnasts had to fail in front of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
