Sex is really really important if you are in a romantic relationship. This statement comes out of the personal experience and does not serve as expert advice because there is no one rule of thumb for everyone when it comes to sex. Sex is different for each and every individual. Every couple views sex in a different way. For some, sex is only a part of the relationship while for some, sex is the reason they get into a romantic relationship.

Having sex with your partner or not relies completely on individual beliefs, their physical and emotional urges, and the kind of relationship that they share with their partner. I have seen several people enjoy beautiful phases of their romance even if they do not sleep on the same bed and have sex with their partners only once in a while or they don’t even have sexual intercourse for years. Yes, there are numerous reasons for people to not have or to have sex with their partner. Some of the factors may be low sex drive, having some medical health issues, desire to be in a platonic relationship without having sex, or looking at sex as a taboo or unwanted feeling.

However, such people don’t lead an unhealthy relationship with their partner, in fact, they are quite successful as a couple and linked even romantically because they have their own definitions of viewing their love life. So, I can conclude that sexual intercourse or any form of sex-related activity is not a MUST for a healthy romantic relationship. In case, sex is really a need in your romantic relationship with your partner then you need to be open and honest about the same.

For many people or couples, sexual activities and feelings about sex are the core or foundation of their relationship. They consider having sex as a form of bonding with their partner, expressing their feelings of love and affection, and also feeling secure in their relationship. Some couples really want to get pregnant and give birth to children for which they have sex quite often and consider the activity to give them pleasure and the utmost satisfaction.

Regularly engaging yourself in sexual activity with your partner can actually even provide a lot of benefits to your brain, relationship, body partners, and emotions. It can improve your self-esteem as having sex makes you feel loved physically and emotionally as well. You start viewing your life in a more positive manner and that helps you to get rid of any negative emotions or stress. Physically, it has been found as per some research done by experts that regular sex can improve your immunity, help you exercise well, improve your heart health and even have a better memory. Headaches are also lowered for sexually active people.

However, people not having sex or not wanting to have sex should not be forced to get into the activity just if the other partner is craving the same. Massages, holding hands, affectionate touch, kissing, and cuddling are also some of the ways of sharing intimacy with your partner if he or she wants to stay away from sex.
