New Delhi: Congress national spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala has said that the reports of Sonia Gandhi resigning from the post of Congress interim president are false. Randeep Singh Surjewala has made it clear that at present Sonia Gandhi is not going to resign from the post of Congress Interim President.
Several media institutions had claimed by sources that Sonia Gandhi may resign from the post of interim president at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Monday. Randeep Singh Surjewala has denied this news.
Before the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on Monday (24 August), various voices within the party have started emerging. While a group of current MPs and former ministers have demanded collective leadership, another group has strongly advocated Rahul Gandhi’s return as party president. Two dozen Congress leaders, including some former ministers, have written to party president Sonia Gandhi demanding a major change in the organization, while some leaders close to Rahul have written to the CWC for his return as party chief.
