Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Friday that he had no ambition to become the Prime Minister. Kumar broke ties with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and joined Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, the Left parties and Jitan Majhi’s Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM).
Kumar said that his aim is to bring the opposition parties together. “I say this with folded hands, I have no such thoughts. My work is to work for everyone. I will make an effort to see that all the opposition parties work together. If they do so, it will be good,” Kumar said. At a press conference. The Grand Alliance, led by Kumar, will seek floor test on August 24 to prove majority in the assembly.

According to sources, the Grand alliance might hold a meeting on August 16 for cabinet expansion. The RJD will have more ministers in the cabinet than the Janata Dal (United). Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which leads the NDA said that Kumar had disrespected the people’s mandate which was for the NDA government in Bihar. The Congress may get two/three cabinet berths in the cabinet and HAM one.
