New Delhi: Congress on Saturday targeted fiercely to mark the completion of one year of the second term of the Narendra Modi government. The party said that the last one year has been a great disappointment, mismanagement and immense pain for the country. The Congress gave the slogan of the government’s term ‘bebas log, beraham sarkaar ‘ and released a 16-point list of failures of the government.
During the video conferencing, Congress senior KC Venugopal said that Prime Minister Modi came to power claiming to give 2 crore jobs every year, but the unemployment rate rose to a 45-year high in 2017-18. According to CMIE, after the coronavirus crisis, the country’s unemployment rate will rise to 27.11 percent.
He said that PM Modi had promised that when he comes to power the rupee will go to 40 rupees against the dollar but in six years of Modi government, Indian rupee has become Asia’s worst performing currency. As of May 30, the rupee was at 75.57 against the dollar.
He said that in the beginning of the seventh year of great disappointment, criminal mismanagement and year of immense suffering, India stands on a stage where the citizens of the country are forced to bear the countless wounds and ruthless insensitivity given by the government. Venugopal said that in the last six years the politics of disorientation in the country and the heights of false noise became the hallmark of the functioning of the Modi government.
Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that the Corona relief package is just a jumla. In the form of PM Modi Corona Relief Package, the package of 20 lakh crore rupees was described as 10 percent of GDP whereas it was only 0.83 percent of GDP. This is a very insensitive and unkind declaration for a country that has been waiting for relief for more than 60 days.
Surjewala said that for the first time in the history of India, the Modi government imposed a tax on agriculture. 5 percent GST was applied on fertilizer, 18 percent GST on pesticides, 12 percent GST on tractors and all agricultural implements. In the six years of the Modi government, the excise duty on diesel was Rs 3.56. Rs 31.83 per liter Per liter, i.e. an increase of 800 percent. This happened despite the fact that the international crude oil prices are at the lowest level in history.
