New Delhi/Ranchi/Kolkata: Three Congress law-makers from Jharkhand, caught with a huge cash in Howrah district of West Bengal on Saturday, were suspended from the party on Sunday, sources said. The three MLAs are Irfan Ansari, Naman Vixal Kongadi and Rajesh Kachhap who were trying to topple the Jharkhand government of which the Congress is a partner.

The West Bengal police said that they had arrested three Congress legislators with bags containing currency notes worth Rs 48,00,000 at Rani Haat of Panchla police station in Howrah district on Saturday evening. All of them were in a SUV bearing the board of Jamtara MLA, Jharkhand. At a press conference on Sunday, in charge of the party’s Jharkhand unit Avinash Pandey said that the party leadership had taken the decision because of the allegations against them. According to reports, Congress legislator from Bermo constituency of Jharkhand Anoop Singh lodged an FIR against those legislators at Argora police in Ranchi on Sunday, accusing them of hatching a conspiracy to oust the state government.
