Mumbai: The officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained Shiv Sena leader and Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut in connection with alleged irregularities in Patra Chawl land case on Sunday, sources said. The ED sleuths also raided the residence of Raut regarding a money laundering case. Earlier, ED issued two notices to Raut for appearing before the probe agency.

In reply to a notice issued on July 20, Raut said that he would be able to appear before the probe agency only after August 7, because he was busy attending Parliament sessions. He, however, recorded his statement on July 1. The probe agency also attached Raut’s properties in Dadar and Alibag. The Shiv Sena leaders alleged that the ruling party at the Centre targeted Raut for supporting Uddhav Thackeray in his fight with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for control over Shiv Sena. Shinde’s flight led to the fall of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.
