The woman from Madhya Pradesh is suing her husband for divorce after just five months of marriage. She claims he betrayed her by not taking her on their honeymoon as promised—to Goa—rather than Ayodhya and Varanasi. According to the Free Press Journal, the couple’s peculiar case apparently reached the Bhopal family court on January 19, 10 days after their return from vacation.
In her divorce petition, she brought up her husband’s well-paying position in the IT industry. She is also a working woman, so they didn’t think twice about taking their honeymoon abroad.
Despite their considerable wealth, the woman’s husband insisted on bringing her to a place in India instead than abroad. The couple planned a getaway to Goa or southern India after he insisted on looking after his parents.
However, he did manage to covertly reserve tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi. Only one day before they were to leave, he informed her of the revised schedule, saying that they were now going to Ayodhya since his mother had requested a visit to the city prior to the dedication of Ram Mandir.
She went ahead and took the vacation without thinking twice since she didn’t have any concerns at the moment. But she didn’t waste any time getting a divorce once they returned from the pilgrimage sites; she went straight to family court. The woman continued by saying that her husband was the main earner and that she had no place in the family. Her spouse insisted that she was only exaggerating the situation. They are now seeing a therapist at the Bhopal Family Court.
The man’s parents wanted to see a temple, so he suggested they visit a local religious site instead of taking his wife on a romantic honeymoon to a faraway country. His specialization is information technology engineering.
However, they ultimately settled on a trip to Goa. The woman said that her husband had told her the day before their trip that they were going to Ayodhya and Varanasi, and that it had been his mother’s dream.
After returning from their vacation together, the couple got into an argument, which prompted the woman to file for divorce.
The wife accused him of having “prioritised his extended family over her” and “broke her trust” from the very beginning of their marriage, as described by Avasthi.
A honeymoon to the southern Indian states and Goa was in the works five months prior to the wedding. Just one day before their vacation was supposed to begin, the husband informed his wife that they would instead be visiting Ayodhya and Varanasi. He went on to explain that his mother had wished to visit the holy city prior to the consecration of Ram Mandir on January 22.
After returning from their vacation with their husbands and in-laws, the women decided to seek for a divorce. She claims that her husband placed a higher priority on his family than she did.
