Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister for Electronics and Technology, gave a statement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on deepfakes and AI misuse. On November 17th, speaking at the Diwali Milan program at BJP headquarters in New Delhi, PM Modi requested people to practice caution over the increasing threats of AI in producing deepfakes. He also shared his experience of an AI fake video in which he was doing Garba.

What are deepfakes

Deepfakes are incorrect information powered by using AI. There is a clear threat to human protection and privateness for people who agree with the internet. Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that we work hard and create IT rules to prevent deepfakes issues and misuse of AI and increase humans’s security. 

Last week, the deepfake of PM Modi was additionally viral, in which he was performing garba. But the fact is that he never plays Garba. After this incident, the deepfake has come to be a country wide difficulty..

PM Modi flagged the deep faux AI problem that he had already flagged and brought attention to the humans of India. Even the internet is a device of empowerment, while AI is a tool of empowerment, innovation, and growth. Still, we must no longer forget that there are many people at the internet the use of AI and misusing other humans’s information to reason damage, violence, and sickness in society, stated Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

The Union minister, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, promised to create a framework that consists of the new regulation to make sure that incorrect information or deepfakes at large scale do no longer pose threats to the privacy and agree with of 1.2 million users. Further, he also stated that we hold to engage with all these internet platforms. I stated that the authorities and platforms are companions to make certain the net is safe, open, accountable, and depended on for on-line customers. We will interact with them daily more, he stated.

Strengthens the existing Internet framework

Rajeev Chandrasekhar said to the government that they engage with industry to ensure that they do not permit deepfakes to cause harm and create chaos and violence on the internet for people. He said that you will wait till November 24th to see what we do. We talk with the industry and come up with an overall powerful framework that strengthens the existing Internet world. 

He also said they made the law if any law was required to stop such AI activities. From this, they came up with a framework that is stronger than the existing framework and ensures the privacy of Internet users.

As we know, the popular actress Rashmika Manndana has become a victim of a deep fake video. In the video, it appears that the woman with the face Rashmika entered the lift wearing a black swimsuit. The video went viral quickly on the internet, and many social media users confirmed that it was not an original video of rashmika; it was a deep fake. From that time, the government took the initiative to stop deepfake use and give more security and privacy to users. Rajeev Chandrasekhar confirmed that they can take necessary action till November 24th.
