The IMD, Indian Meteorological Department, issues the orange alert for Tamil Nadu and Kerala because the northeast monsoon brings heavy Rainfall to these areas. The government of two states issued the notice on Tuesday and urge people to stay cautious of this heavy Rainfall. The schools of Karaikal and poducherry are declared closed till that time.

Orange alert in Poducherry, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karaikal

According to the weather agency, Tamil Nadu, poducherry, and Karaikal are supposed to experience isolated heavy to very heavy Rainfall on 21 and 22 November. Meanwhile, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Center also predicts intermittent Rainfall for the next 2 days in more than 10 districts of Tamil Nadu. According to the latest bulletin of IMD, Kerala has also experienced heavy Rainfall from 22 to 23 November. As per predictions, Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta districts in the state get 5 cm and 7 cm of rain. 

Areas that experience heavy Rainfall

On Tuesday, the IMD and the Indian meteorological department issued advisories and urge caution in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. An orange alert was issued for parts of the states because the northeast monsoon intensified, leading to heavy Rainfall in these areas. Kerala is preparing for heavy to very heavy Rainfall on 22 November and 23 November. On the other hand, the poducherry and Tamil Nadu are expected to experience heavy to very heavy Rainfall on 22 November. 

On Tuesday, the various areas across Andhra Pradesh also witnessed cloudy situations and heavy Rainfall. With the north Indian region embracing the cold temperature, the southern areas experience rain.

Predictions on Heavy Rainfall 

The isolated heavy to very heavy Rainfall is also predicted by IMD in part of Kerala from 22 to 23 November. Heavy Rainfall is expected to fall in poducherry and Tamil Nadu on 22 November. As per the weather agency, Mahe and Kerala are falling on orange alert because of isolated predictions of heavy to very heavy Rainfall from 21 to 23 November. Moreover, the weather agency also predicts heavy Rainfall in isolated areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh, yanam, and Rayalaseema. 

Schools remain closed

As the predictions are made by the weather agency for heavy Rainfall, the schools in Karaikal and Poducherry remain closed. The Chennai Regional Meteorological Center predicts heavy Rainfall over the next 2 days in more than 10 districts of Tamil Nadu. For Wednesday, the light to average Rainfall is expected in various parts of the state. So due to the heavy Rainfall, the schools, whether government or private, remain closed in Poducherry, said the education minister. 

Conclusion

There is an orange alert issued by IMD on Tuesday in Tamil Nadu and Kerala because of heavy Rainfall. The government and private schools of Poducherry are remained closed from 21 to 23 November, and officials urge people to be cautious of heavy Rainfall. The weather agency makes the rainfall predictions, and the decision is announced by the education minister to keep schools closed.
