Tractor March by farmers block the Delhi-Connecting Highway

Farmersconnected to Bhartiya Kisan Union, Tikait and BKU Lokshakti are leading the tractor march. In Meerut Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Baghpat, Hapur and Amroha, farmers staged a tractor march that caused traffic disruptions by parking their tractors in the left lane of highways. Farmers and activists from the Bharatiya Kisan Union clogged the NH 58 at Mohiuddinpur in Meerut. The BKU has issued a call for farmers to park their tractors on highways in support of the demands of farmers who are protesting in Punjab and Haryana.

Tikait stated on Monday that the purpose of the tractor march is to make the Narendra Modi government pay attention to them and remember the farmers. 

It has been decided to implement a program to remove a Tractor chain. On the highway leading to Dlhi, particularly the divider highway, tractors will be parked. In order to get the government to pay attention to us and remember the farmers in Tikait, who spearheaded the 2020-21 campaign against the Center’s since repealed farm laws, it was decided to sign up for another type of protest.  

We had traveled to Chandigarh for a Sanyukt Morcha meeting. A six person committee has been established. It was established in order to have discussions with all farmer organizations that are not affiliated with Sanyukt Morcha. He said that any organization can speak with the committee about joining the Sanyukt Morcha. Farmers connected to  Bhartiya Kisan Union Tikait and BKU Lokshakti are leading the tractor march. Farmers stated that they haven’t heard from the government with a message yet. Opening up a dialogue is never impossible. Here we are protesting in order to have a discussion. Thus we will attend the meeting whenever one is scheduled, a farmer leader was cited by the media. 

According to officials who spoke to the media, there will probably be traffic on Monday the Delhi-Noida border due to a planned tractor march by farmers towards the national capital. A protest march led by farmers via the Yamuna Expressway, the Luharli toll plaza and the Mahamaya flyover is scheduled.

The Delhi Police have erected barricades to increase border checks. Due to the checking, there was a lot of traffic at the Chilla border heading from Delhi towards Noida. The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police stated that thorough inspection will be carried out by the Delhi Police and the district police, who will erect barriers at every border crossing between the capital and Noida. Traffic will be routed based on the circumstances. The Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha are leading the Delhi Chalo protest march. The farmer’s were halted by security personnel on February 13, so they set up camp at the Shambhu and Khanauri crossing on Punjab’s border with Haryana.
