Lucknow. Another shocker for the common people of Uttar Pradesh in the form of a fee hike after the UP government approved the Private school to raise fees in the new academic session. The people of UP is already reeling under high inflation due to the higher prices of fuel and food. The rise in fees by the private schools will only make the situation bad to worse for the parents, after the Covid pandemic slowdown.
There is going to be a huge increase in the fees of private schools in Uttar Pradesh soon. The state government has lifted the ban imposed on the fee hike of private schools due to Corona. Along with this, private schools have been approved to increase the fees by 10 percent.
The state government has allowed private schools to increase fees in the academic session 2022-23. The fee hike will be calculated on the basis of the fees for the year 2019-20. Aradhana Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary, Secondary Education Department has issued a mandate in this regard. In this, instructions have been given to private schools to consider the latest consumer price index for fee hike in the academic session 2022-23 as the basis and add it by increasing the fees for the year 2019-2020 by a maximum of five percent.

Let us inform that at present the Consumer Price Index is 5.06 percent and adding 5 percent to it will increase the total increase to 10.06 percent. This order of the government will be applicable to the financially unfinished schools of all the education boards running in the state. At the same time, all the DIOS have been entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the fee hike.
Although, the ACS Secondary Aradhana Shukla said in her order that ‘it has been ensured that no school is able to increase fees excessively. Parents should complain before the District Fee Regulatory Committee under section 8 of the Act on taking more fees. Govt must appoint an enforcement committee that can overlook the fee hike.
