News Desk – A 15-year-old girl from Odisha’s Puri district was brutally set on fire by three masked men and is now being treated at AIIMS Delhi. She has suffered 70–75% burns but is said to be in stable condition.
The shocking incident took place around 8:30 AM on Saturday, near a river embankment while the girl was on her way to a relative’s house. The attackers reportedly covered her face with a chemical-laced cloth, poured kerosene, and set her on fire.
She somehow managed to run to a nearby house, where Dukshishyam Senapati, the man who saved her, heard her cries for help.
The girl told Senapati that three unknown men on motorcycles abducted her. Their faces were half-covered. They took her near the Bhargavi riverbank, tied her up, and set her on fire. Somehow, she managed to free herself and run for help.
Senapati said that while the girl claimed she was tied, her hands were free when she arrived at his house. After asking for her father’s number, he called the girl’s family. Because the ambulance took too long to arrive, they rushed her to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
She stayed at Senapati’s house for about 90 minutes. The entire village is now in shock, especially children, who are scared to go out alone. Senapati appealed to the police for quick action and arrest of the culprits.
