News Desk – Jawhar Sircar, a member of the Rajya Sabha from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), wanted to resign because of the handling of a doctor’s murder in Kolkata. However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called him and asked him to rethink his decision.
Sircar was upset over the murder of a young doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. He wrote a letter to Mamata Banerjee saying he planned to resign because he felt the government didn’t respond strongly enough to the situation. He was disappointed that Banerjee didn’t take immediate and firm action.
He said he would go to Delhi to submit his resignation on September 11. After hearing about his plan, Mamata Banerjee asked him to reconsider leaving his position.
The incident has caused a lot of anger and distrust toward the government. The situation worsened because of the hospital management and police’s poor decisions right after the murder.
The former head of the hospital tried to claim the murder was a suicide, and the doctor’s family had to wait a long time before they could see her body.
Sircar’s decision to resign has started discussions within his party, TMC, with some members agreeing with his concerns.
