NewDelhi: The Country has witnessed retail sales of Electric vehicles (EV) like never before with a three-fold jump last fiscal with two-wheeler leading the segment, as per the latest compiled data by automobile dealers’ body FADA.

In the financial year 2021-22 the total electric vehicle (EV) retails reached at 4,29,217 units a rise of three-fold jump 1,34,821 units said Fada. The total EV sales had reached 1,68,300 units in FY 19-20. According to the industry body FADA, the EV passenger vehicle retail sales stood at 17,802 in the previous fiscal, up over three-fold from 4,984 units in FY21.

Indian auto major Tata Motors led the EV segment with retails of 15,198 units and a market share of about 85.37 percent in the segment. The Mumbai-based company’s retail sales stood at 3,523 units in FY 20-21.

 MG Motor India stood at second place with sales of 2,045 units last fiscal with a market share of about 11.49 percent against 1,115 units of FY 20-21..

Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai India reached third and fourth places with dispatches of 156 and 128 units respectively as per FADA data.

Meanwhile, Hero Electric led with electric two-wheeler retail sales of 65,303 units, grabbing a 28.23 percent share in the domestic market, followed by Okinawa Autotech, which sold  46,447 units last fiscal. Ampere Vehicles with retail sales of 24,648 units stood at third place. Hero MotoCorp-backed Ather Energy stood at 4th place with the registration of 19,971 units in FY21-22.

Bengaluru-based newbie Ola Electric (with sales of 14,371 units) stood in the sixth position, while TVS Motor Company (with registrations of 9,458 units) took the seventh position in the previous financial year.

Centre govt has laid emphasis to shift over to EV vehicles and the govt in association with the private players is augmenting the basic EV infrastructure.
