The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) correctly conducted flight tests of the Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile from the Integrated Test Range off Odisha’s Chandipur on February 28 and 29.
On this, the defense ministry said, These tests were completed in opposition to high-speed unmanned aerial objectives below one-of-a-kind interception situation. During all the tests of flights, the goals had been intercepted and destroyed with the aid of the missiles, meeting the challenge objectives.
VSHORADS- A short-range defense system
These missions were completed over two days, starting Wednesday off the coast of Odisha from Integrated Test Range, Chandipur. VSHORADS, a Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD), is controlled to hit high-speed unmanned aerial objectives under exceptional interception situations. “During all of the check flights, the goals were intercepted and destroyed by missiles, meeting the undertaking goals,” the Ministry of Defence stated in an announcement.
The VSHORADS is propelled by a dual-thrust solid motor and can be used to neutralize low-altitude aerial threats at short levels.
The VSHORADS is a Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) indigenously evolved through Research Centre Imarat (RCI) in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and other industry companions, the Ministry stated.
DRDO conducts the flight tests of VSHORADS
VSHORADS missile integrates with the NOVEL Techniques with Reaction Control System and tests the time of missile. It is worked by thrust motor and neutralize the aerial threats of low altitude at several levels. The missile’s design, including the launcher, has been exceptionally optimized to ensure clean portability.
