The Haryana Police has stated that the passports and visas of the people who have participated in violence during the agitation will be canceled. On Thursday, farmers are expected to make a decision regarding the continuation of their march towards Delhi.

After security personnel stopped the protesting farmers’ march to the national capital on February 13, they set up camp at the Khanauri and Shambhu points on the Punjab-Haryana border. On February 29, they promised to take calls regarding the march. In an effort to get the central government to grant their demands- which include a waiver of farm loans and a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP) for crops-farmers are organizing.

Regarding the death of Bathinda native Shubhkaran Singh (22), the Punjab Police have filed a murder case against a person who remains unidentified on February 21. Clashes with the farmers who were protesting at Khanauri also resulted in the injuries of twelve security personnel.

Several NGOs in Amritsar paid tribute to Shubhkaran Singh with a candlelight vigil.

The farmers’ and the Punjab government’s impasse is ended with the filing of the FIR, which also opens the door for the body’s post-mortem.  Farmer’s leader insisted that a formal complaint be submitted before performing the post-mortem.
