A boat carrying school children along with several locals capsized in the Jhelum River Srinagar. Death of four individuals, while others are still missing officials said.

Muzaffar Zargar, the Medical Superintendent at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar, confirmed the fatalities and mentioned that three survivors are currently receiving treatment.

The ongoing rescue operations are being conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), who have already saved 12 children from the chilly waters.

The region has been experiencing incessant rainfall over the past few days, which has significantly increased the water levels of Jhelum.

Authorities are urging the public to stay away from swollen rivers and streams, and the SDRF is continuing its efforts to find and rescue the missing passengers.
