Nagpur: The Supreme Court on Friday accused former spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nupur Sharma of igniting the country and damaging the social fabrics with her allegedly blasphemous comments against the Prophet, resulting in the beheading of a tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Another Udaipur-like killing took place in Nagpur on June 21, but it did not get attention because of the political crisis in Maharashtra. A chemist of Amaravati, identified as Umesh Prahladrao Kolhe, was brutally stabbed to death for supporting Sharma’s comments against the Prophet on social media. Now, a comparison is being drawn between Kolhe’s killing and that of Kanhaiya Lal’s in Udaipur on June 28. The city police are probing into the case. Commissioner of Amaravati police Arati Singh said that five persons had been arrested in connection with the murder.

His son Sanket and wife Vaishnavi were on another two-wheeler. Just as Kolhe reached Prabhat Chowk, two unidentified persons on a motorcycle stopped him and stabbed him. When Kolhe slumped to the ground, the criminals escaped.
Sanket also stopped and took his father to a hospital where he died. A Member of the Legislative Council belonging to the Bharatiya Janagta Party Anil Bonde demanded a probe into the case which has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency.
