Statue of Unity to be guarded by 272 CISF personnel from Aug 25

New Delhi: India’s pride ‘Statue of Unity’ will be guarded by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) from August 25.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has given approval for the deployment of CISF personnel at the Statue of Unity at Kevadia in Gujarat.

“Approval of the competent authority is conveyed for induction of CISF at Statue of Unity, Kevadia, Gujarat w.e.f 25.08.2020 with strength of 272 personnel in first phase,” the letter sent by Home Ministry to DG CISF Rajesh Ranjan says.

The tourists will be likely allowed entry from September 2 after the place was closed in view of COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

The CISF provides security cover to 300 industrial units, government infrastructure projects and facilities and establishments located all over India. Industrial sectors like atomic power plants, space installations, mines, oil fields and refineries, major ports, heavy engineering, steel plants, barrages, fertiliser units, airports and hydroelectric/thermal power plants owned and controlled by Central Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and currency note presses producing Indian currency are protected by
