Although Union Home Shah visited Gwalior to lay the foundation of the terminal, he created a buzz in the corridors of power in the state. A political observer said that one might give several meanings to Shah’s visit to Scindia’s palace, it was clear that Scindia’s respect in the party had shot up.

Gwalior/Bhopal: Union Home Minister Amit shah’s visit to Jai Vilas Palace, residence of Union minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, has kicked up a buzz in political circles across the state. Shah was in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday to release MBBS books in Hindi. Scincia made a flight to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with his 22 followers in March 2020, which led to the fall of the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in the state.

According to reports, Shah visited Scindia’s palace around 3:30pm. The supporters of Scindia welcomed Shah who had lunch at the palace. After visiting the palace, he went to the mela ground where he laid the foundation of a new terminal at the Gwalior airport to be named after Scindia’s grandmother Vijayraje Scindia, sources said, adding that a sum of Rs 446 crore will be spent to build the terminal on 20,000 square metres area.

At the time of laying the foundation of the air terminal, Shah said that Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Airport in Gwalior is one of most modern airports in the country. Although Shah visited Gwalior to lay the foundation of the terminal, he created a buzz in the corridors of power in the state. A political observer said that one might give several meanings to Shah’s visit to Scindia’s palace, it was clear that Scindia’s graph in the party had shot up. Nevertheless, by inviting Shah to his palace, Scindia apparently wanted to convey a message to his party colleagues and to the Congress leaders who often said that Scindia had no respect in the party, another political observer felt. Besides, as assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh are just a year away, Shah’s visit to Scindia’s palace carries some significance. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, state home minister Narottam Mishra and some other senior leaders of the party were also present on the occasion.
