Lucknow:  An influential leader of the Dalit community in western Uttar Pradesh’s Hastinapur and minister of state for Jal Shakti Department in the Yogi Adityanath government, Dinesh Khatik, resigned from the ministry, sources said on Wednesday. He sent his resignation letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleging rampant corruption in the department and that the officers do not listen to him.

The officials of the department neglect him because he belongs to Dalit community, he alleged. According to the resignation letter, 100 days have passed since the government was formed, but he has not been allocated work in the department. Sources further said that he had skipped the meeting of council of ministers on Tuesday.

The officials of the department never keep him posted about the important decisions and never invite to any meetings, he said.

His working as a minister of state is a waste of time for the Dalit community as he cannot do anything for welfare of the people of his community, Khatik said in his letter.
