NationalPartha Chatterjee wants rice, Prison officials contact Arpita

Date:

Kolkata: Former minister of West Bengal Partha Chatterjee is fond of eating, but because of his growing age, he is suffering from many diseases. Besides there is tension due to grilling by the officials of the Enforcement Directorate and due to loss of power and party post. Therefore, he has every reason to ask for some delicious fare. But the officials of the prison where he is lodged are not ready to pamper this foodie. They fear the 69-year-old Chatterjee may fall ill. His blood sugar level may shoot up. To keep him away from luscious food, especially from rice, the prison officials contacted his aide, Arpita Mukherjee who has been lodged in another centre.

Chatterjee demands nothing but rice. He does not like fruits and chapatis. When the former minister stuck to his demand for rice, Mukherjee convinced him saying if he fell ill, he would not be able to fight the legal battle. Although he did not listen to the officers, he heeded Mukherjee’s advice. He agreed to eat a handful of rice. According to medical reports, Chatterjee has been suffering from type-II diabetes for 15 years. As the doctors have advised him against consuming too much rice, the prison officials are working accordingly.
