NationalCSIR gets first woman director

New Delhi: Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), a group of 38 research institutes across the country, gets its first woman director, Nallathamby Kalaiselvi, sources said on Sunday.  She has been appointed for two years. She succeeds Shekhar Mande who retired in April this year, and secretary of the department of biotechnology Rajesh Gokhale was given the additional charge of the director of CSIR.

At present, Kalaiselvi is the director of the CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute at Karaikundi, Tamil Nadu.
