Nashik: Panic spread among passengers as a fire broke out in a parcel van of the Mumbai-bound Shalimar Express at Nashik Road station in Maharashtra on Saturday morning.
Nobody was, however, injured in the incident. The Shalimar-LTT Express departed safely at Nashik Road station. The fire erupted in the parcel van next to the engine of the train that runs between Shalimar (West Bengal) and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus station Mumbai. According to chief public relations officer of the Central Railway, Shivaji Sutar all passengers were safe. Immediately after the fire broke out it was doused and the parcel van was detached, he said.
Eye witnesses said that as soon as the passengers came to know of the incident, there was panic among them. Many passengers got off the train out of fear. Everything became normal after the fire was soaked and the parcel van was detached from the train.
