New Delhi: The sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided more than 50 locations of gangsters across the country, official sources said on Tuesday. They also raided the premises of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s associate Naresh Sethi. According to reports, the NIA sleuths went to Sethi’s residence in the Jhajjar area of Haryana in the early hours of Tuesday.
The raid was part of the government’s plan to wipe out the nexus between drug dealers and terrorists, NIA officials said. In the NIA said that local police assisted NIA team during the raid. The team also sifted through the bank account details and illegal properties of Sethi and quizzed his family members about it, they said.
Sethi, a chum of Lawrence Bishnoi, has committed several crimes, including murders and he is cooling his heels at Tihar jail in Delhi, sources said, adding that the gangs were raiding funds to carry out criminal activities. At the outset, the special cell of the Delhi Police registered a case against more than eight criminals and began a probe, but the NIA took over the case. The gang members who operate from various parts of the country and abroad, made a plot to carry out terrorist acts in Delhi and other places.
