New Delhi: Good news for the Indian economy the 4-month long southwest monsoon rains this season to remain normal, predicted private weather forecasting agency Skymet on Tuesday. Stakeholders especially the farmers associated with the agriculture sector are waiting for the monsoon forecast eagerly. The onset of the monsoon rains is expected to be good and maximum rainfall is expected in the month of June itself. The average rainfall during the month of June to September is 880.6 mm. There is a 98 percent chance of rain in comparison. During this, Gujarat will receive less rain than normal, while Punjab, UP, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Maharashtra will receive more rain. At the same time, there is good news for the farmers that the monsoon will be good for them, because in the initial month there will be good rains for sowing the crops, which will help the farmers a lot.

Private weather forecasting agency Skymet has released the Monsoon 2022 Forecast, which predicts a normal monsoon. According to the agency, this year the monsoon will be normal and there is a possibility of 98% rainfall in 2022 as compared to the average rainfall. In fact, the spread of normal rainfall is 96-104% of the LPA.

The agency has said that in terms of geographical risks, it is expected that along with Rajasthan, Gujarat, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura in the northeastern region will be prone to rain deficiency throughout the season. Kerala and North Interior Karnataka will see less rainfall in the main monsoon months of July and August. Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, agricultural areas of North India and rainfed areas of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh will receive above-normal rainfall. The first half of the season is expected to be better than the latter. Monsoon is expected to start well in the beginning of June.

Dr. Mahesh Palawat, Chief Meteorologist, Skymet told that this year the monsoon is expected to be good for the farmers and people associated with the agriculture sector, as the monsoon is expected to be good in the early stages. It will be good for the farmers as it is the time for sowing paddy (rice). At the same time, he told that the monsoon will be good for the Delhi-NCR region as well and there will be rain as expected.

Indian economy relies on the 4 month monsoon season; since this monsoon rains bring about 85% of rainfall for the year, which helps to fill depleted water tables and reservoirs. The stored water is used for electricity in the year ahead. Good rains bring prosperity to rural areas with a good harvest.
