Mumbai: A man has been arrested for assaulting and molesting a woman on a long-distance train in Mumbai.
The incident occurred between Mumbai and Thane stations, the police said on Saturday. The 30-year-old man with criminal records also robbed the woman.
The woman who boarded the train at Kundapur in Karnataka was on her way to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai, when she was attacked.
The man got into the train when it halted at Thane station. Just as the train began to chug out of the station, the man who got into the women’s compartment attacked the woman.
The accused not only assaulted but also molested her before snatching her ornaments.
When the train slowed down near Kanjur Marg, the man jumped out of the train.
The woman lodged a complaint to the government railway police which arrested the accused from Navi Mumbai, official sources said.
