The murder investigation of Jaipur woman Neeraj Sharma has taken a new turn. Police are now looking into the 2025 death of her husband, Vijay Sharma, after the family raised doubts about whether he died naturally.
The fresh allegations involve 23-year-old Ayushi Sharma, who is already under arrest for allegedly planning the murder of her mother. Police will now examine claims that Ayushi may also have been involved in her father’s death.
The development comes days after Ayushi was arrested for allegedly plotting Neeraj Sharma’s murder with her cousin Balram alias Ravi and several others.
According to police, Neeraj, who worked as a lower division clerk (LDC), was deliberately hit by a Scorpio SUV in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar on July 3. Investigators believe the accused tried to make the murder look like a road accident.
Seven people, including Ayushi, have been arrested. Balram remains absconding.
Family Raises Questions Over Vijay Sharma’s Death
The fresh complaint was filed by Neeraj’s brother and Ayushi’s maternal uncle, Rakesh Sharma. He has approached the police and a court seeking an investigation into Vijay Sharma’s death.
Vijay worked as a Court Master at the Rajasthan High Court. Rakesh alleged that Vijay was seriously ill but was recovering when Ayushi stopped him from receiving proper medical treatment.
According to the complaint, Ayushi and Balram took Vijay away from home, claiming they had found better treatment for him. However, the family was allegedly not told where he was being treated for nearly three months.
Rakesh claimed that Ayushi later informed the family that Vijay had been admitted to Nivik Hospital in Jaipur. When relatives reached the hospital, doctors allegedly told them that around 90 per cent of his body had suffered severe damage.
Ayushi later took Vijay home, where he died.
Government Job and Property Angle Under Investigation
Rakesh alleged that after Vijay’s death, Ayushi and Balram performed his last rites in their native village. Soon after, Ayushi reportedly said she would apply for her father’s government job and demanded that family property be transferred to her name.
The complaint also contains a serious allegation about a threat allegedly made by Ayushi during an argument with her mother.
According to Rakesh, Ayushi allegedly told Neeraj that if her father could be killed by removing his feeding tube, killing her would be easier.
Rakesh also claimed that Neeraj later posted a WhatsApp status suggesting that she had only two days left to live.
Police Continue Investigation
Police said Ayushi allegedly admitted during questioning that she had long held anger against her mother. She reportedly believed that her differently-abled brother received more love and attention from the family.
Investigators said Ayushi discussed plans to kill her mother with Balram. Police are examining family property disputes and personal resentment as possible motives.
Police have described Ayushi, a final-year LLB student, as legally aware and calculating. Psychologists will also assist investigators during her questioning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ranjita Sharma said efforts are continuing to arrest Balram. She added that the family’s allegations regarding Vijay Sharma’s death will also be examined.
The investigation will determine whether additional charges will be added or a separate case will be registered in connection with Vijay Sharma’s death.
