Rajasthan High Court ordered to maintain status quo, relief for Sachin Pilot camp

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court on Friday ordered status quo while hearing the plea of sacked deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and 18 other dissident Congress MLAs against disqualification notices by Assembly Speaker CP Joshi. With the HC order, no action can be taken on disqualification notices against dissident MLAs.

Notably, the Speaker had approached the Supreme Court urging it to stay the High Court proceedings on Pilot and camp’s petition. However, the apex court on Thursday refused to restrain the HC from passing its order.

Pilot was sacked as deputy chief minister and also removed as Pradesh Congress Committee president after he openly revolted against Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and skipped CLP meetings on July 13 and 14.

Besides Pilot, other Congress dissidents who have been served disqualification notices are Ramesh Meena, Indraj Gurjar, Gajraj Khatana, Rakesh Pareek, Murari Meena, P.R. Meena, Suresh Modi, Bhanwar Lal Sharma, Vedprakash Solanki, Mukesh Bhakar, Ramnivas Gavadia, Harish Meena, Brijendra Ola, Hemaram Chaudhary, Vishvendra Singh, Amar Singh, Dipendra Singh and Gajendra Shekhawat.
